Real life or Reel life?

What would you choose?

When it comes to buying magazines, we tend to stick to what we know best and what appeals to us and our interests.

Cathy Wallace's article within PR week, 17 March 2010, outlines the point that women of a certain age and lifestyle prefer to read consumer magazines in which they can relate to its content; however I feel that Cathy forgets the majority of women, who are not only successful in their careers but who can also inspire young women today with their life experiences.

Real People magazine editor Samm Taylor expresses how consumer magazines are a mean for women to help feel good about their lives and that reading about real-life stories is more accessible whereas reading about celebrities. To some extent this could be considered true but I can't help but remember the times when I used to look in a magazine and see a successful celebrity or business women and want to be like them when I grew up, this to me was a motivating factor to succeed in life and become successful in whatever I do.

Should we women just limit ourselves to one way of life or is it time we started broadening our horizons and way of thinking.
