Star alongside Robert Pattinson

Could you be the next 'Bella'?

Well not quite Bella, but makers of R-Pattz new film 'Water for Elephants' were doing an open casting which was held on 17th April in LA for extras to star alongside the teenage hearthrob.
Oscar-winner Reese Witherspoon may be the leading lady in this film but many girls had already started buying their plane tickets to get across to America in time for the casting auditions.

Not only was this a great method to get R-Pattz fans involved with one of his projects but this could also be considered as a great PR move by the makers of this novel turned movie. By announcing open call auditions will not only get the public involved and interested but it will also help publicise the upcoming movie across the world.

Smart move wouldn't you say?

Twitter unmasks Jim Carrey's split with Jenny McCarthy

Is it official?

Yes it is my fellow readers, Jim Carrey and actress Jenny McCarthy have announced they are to end their 5 year relationship through the popular social media site 'Twitter'.

Well it seems as though gone are the days when news like this was announced through print publication, social media has officially taken over. Both Jim and Jenny however have been extremely professional and mature about the split and have expressed their sentiments of gratitude and goodwill to one another, which is normally a very rare thing for us to see from celebrity couples.
Could this method of communication be a sign of what the future communication channels are going to be like, well if technology keeps advancing at the rate it is then social media sites may just be the beginning.

Below are the 'tweets' Jim and Jenny posted on their twitter pages after the split.

Real life or Reel life?

What would you choose?

When it comes to buying magazines, we tend to stick to what we know best and what appeals to us and our interests.

Cathy Wallace's article within PR week, 17 March 2010, outlines the point that women of a certain age and lifestyle prefer to read consumer magazines in which they can relate to its content; however I feel that Cathy forgets the majority of women, who are not only successful in their careers but who can also inspire young women today with their life experiences.

Real People magazine editor Samm Taylor expresses how consumer magazines are a mean for women to help feel good about their lives and that reading about real-life stories is more accessible whereas reading about celebrities. To some extent this could be considered true but I can't help but remember the times when I used to look in a magazine and see a successful celebrity or business women and want to be like them when I grew up, this to me was a motivating factor to succeed in life and become successful in whatever I do.

Should we women just limit ourselves to one way of life or is it time we started broadening our horizons and way of thinking.

Twitter meets iTunes

Are we ready for social music sites?

It's all about being sociable nowadays, that's why social networking sites such as, Twitter, Facebook and Orkut are so popular amongst the public. It gives people a means of different and fun communication, not only can you talk to each other but also view pictures and videos uploaded by the user.

The latest addition to join the world of social media is 'mflow', a site were users can create a profile and share music. Brew and Seventy Seven PR, the clever creators of this site have come up with a unique way of sharing music, not only this but the added benefits for users are that their accounts will be credited with 20 per cent of the track value when their recommendations are purchased by someone in their network. Now there's an idea Sir Alan Sugar would be proud of.

Brew and Seventy Seven PR, who are the respective digital and consumer divisions operating within the Fishburn Hedges Group, have certainly come up with a unique idea and by winning the six-figure account to launch the site can lead them to be serious contenders within the media and PR industry, here's hoping that 'mflow' can create the same buzz and popularity within the world of social media, which sites such as Twitter and Facebook are already masters of.

Everything 3D

Is it time we saw the bigger picture?

Now that almost every movie is being created in 3D, its no surprise that the latest dance sequel to 'Step Up' is also called 'Step Up 3D'.

Ever since the first Hollywood 3D movie 'Man in the dark' was made in 1953, is has become somewhat of a fascination to the public to experience this different kind of viewing. By watching a movie in 3D allows the audience to experience close up everything which is happening in the movie, it gives the viewer the sense that they are actually in the experience or movie in this case.

Many more 3D films have entered mainstream cinema since 2003 and since then it has only risen in popularity. Some of the titles include;

My Bloody Valentine 3D
Journey to the Center of the Earth
Avatar
Alice in Wonderland and
Step up 3D.

If rumors are to be true then we could be having another spectacular film join the 3D genre, the highly anticipated 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' is all set to be made in 3D. This two part film will first hit our screens on November 19th 2010 and part 2 will premeire July 11th 2011.

With technology advancing at such a fast pace, we as viewers can only wait and see what manistream cinema produces next, maybe some day we will be able to use all our five senses to fully experience the movie.

The Twilight Saga, No.5

Are the vampires and werewolves still back in town?

Yes I think they are. As if waiting for the third installment of Twilight, 'Eclipse' to premiere wasn't enough, the latest news is that Stephenie Meyer has announced a fifth book is soon to join the Twilight series, well its more of a short story than a full book, but still exciting news for all the twilight fans.

'The short second life of Bree Tanner', tells the story of newborn vampire Bree, whose character was first introduced to readers during 'Eclipse'. The novella, as Stephenie Meyer calls it, is written from Bree's point of view and how she came about the change from human to vampire.

Its no surprise how Twilight has created such a fan base, as it not only has a fantastic concept but has also now been backed up by a great cast who can portray each character effectively. What is surprising though is how Stephenie has utilized this fan base and gained a positive outcome from it. The novella will not only satisfy the fans but will also help the American Red Cross International Response Fund to raise money to support natural disaster relief efforts such as those in Haiti and Chile. One dollar for each book sold in the US from the first printing will go towards this charity. I feel by gaining maximum publicity for the new novella will help Stephenie and publishing house, Little Brown Books, to succeed in thier target and hopefully Twilight fans across the world will come together and 'bite' back to help support this wonderful charity.

Sandra's publicist strikes back

Behind every successful woman is....?

Who knows the answer to this question, I mean it seems as though every successful woman is not getting the commitment they need from their spouses', first it was Hollywood's girl-next door Jennifer Aniston, then pop sensation Cheryl Cole and now Hollywood's sweetheart and our very own Miss Congeniality Sandra Bullock.

After learning that her husband Jesse James has allegedly had four affairs with other women, rumors started to emerge that Sandra was going to adopt Jesse's three children from his previous marriages. Sandra Bullock's publicist has since then informed the media that although the childrens' welfare is both Sandra and Jesse's prime concern there have been no plans made by Sandra to adopt.

Now although the media is a great way to clear up any false rumors and is probably the best means of communication for celebrities I can't help but feel by having the media involved in such personal matters will ultimately affect the children who are amidst all the accusations.

What do you think is the media a good source of communication for celebrities in these matters or could there be another more personal route?

Celebrity Cheaters!

Is it time we learn to forgive and forget?

Personally I feel that once a cheater, always a cheater and Ashley Cole just proves my point. After countless number of try's Ashley Cole has now come up with the 'brilliant' idea of creating a memory book to help win back his wife Cheryl Cole, but is it too little too late?

Well judging by the look on Ashley's face, it seems like it's a hard life for a cheater, but he's not alone in the world of celebrity cheaters.
Many more celebs are now coming out and either admitting to cheating on their other halves or just simply being sold out to the media. The most recent being Take That's Mark Owen, who admitted to his wife he had cheated several times on her before they got married in 2009.

Just because they're celebrities doesn't make it any less painful or embarrassing for their other halves when they cheat, in fact in any case it's worse as the whole world gets to hear about it. Adultery is a growing and sensitive subject and I feel that it's time adulterers learn that they have to repent for their mistakes and not just expect an easy route out with a mere apology or in Ashley's case a book with a few pictures in there. It's time they grew up and took responsibility for their actions.

Food: Friend or Foe?

I cant help but think that in some way food has taken over our normal everyday lives, I mean is it not true that before making any decision related to food we always think about what we eat and more importantly how much of it we eat.
Some people say they eat as it's a means of comfort for them, whether this be a bar of chocolate, a hot rice pudding or even as Joey from Friends would like, a giant pizza.

After reading about how popstar Geri Halliwell had suffered from Bulimia following her departure from mega popband the Spice Girls in 1998, it really struck me that how food, which is a life saver one minute can turn and nearly take your life the next.
Halliwell had always been in the media during the early years of the Spice Girls regarding her bad eating habits, however she had always been very open about it. It wasn't until after she had left the band Halliwell's weight plummeted from a healthy 9 stone to a shocking 7 stone which nearly killed her. Even though food had turned it's back on Halliwell it was close friend and known popstar Robbie Williams who saved Halliwell from deteriorating away.

It's not just celebrities who suffer from these illnesses, however by them being open about it helps give us the public, courage to stand up and face our concerns about food. I feel we need to stop counting how many calories are in our next chocolate frappuccino and start enjoying these different foods and drinks. It's time we embraced and celebrated our individuality and stopped trying to be the next size zero figure.

Blogger was Fraud!!!

To believe or not to believe - that is the question?

When reading fashion magazines, we don't normally think we're going to come across a story which will leave us feeling shocked and disgusted, however that's something I recently experienced and felt the need to instantly share.

Glamour magazine has been my longtime favorite to read since I could remember and normally I love it for the inspirational stories it shares with its readers, however within the February issue I found a story so disturbing I immediately wanted to read it and know more. A women called Rebeccah Beushausen, who was a blogger, had blogged and tweeted on social networking site Twitter about how she was carrying a terminally ill baby, whom she had named April Rose, now hearing that the automatic response would be to feel compassion towards the mother, who despite doctors recommedations to terminate the baby decided she would keep it and give birth to the little life growing inside of her, many people did support Beushausen and also sent gifts and said prayers for April Rose. Nothing seemed wrong with this until I read a little further where it went on to say how Beushausen had made up the whole story and how the terminally ill baby was just a figment of her imagination.

The most disturbing part was the picture Beushausen had posted of what was her supposedly ill baby girl, which instead turned out to be of a lifelike doll. Not only this but throughout the 'pregnancy' Beushausen had also posted pictures of her growing belly and ultrasonic pictures to make it look real whereas in truth there was no baby to begin with. To think that a women could do such a despicable act knowing that it would be extremely upsetting to mothers who had been through this for real is simply worrying and shocking.

Social networking sites such as Twitter, Facebook and Blogger are meant to be a way for the public to share information which is relevant and important and not a way for fraudsters to play with human emotions. Could this be something that the management of such networking sites could help prevent or even monitor in the future, maybe.

Its extremely important to know who you are associating yourself with on networking sites, as recently demonstrated by Beushausen's story you don't always know the person and the intentions behind the post and it is easy to get drawn into them. I feel that by publishing this story and making the public aware that people such as Beushausen do exist, Glamour has certainly opened my eyes up to the fact and hopefully it will do the same to many more readers.

To read the full story and also to discover the several other acts that Rebeccah Beushausen had played, see the February issue of Glamour Magazine which is out now.
